What’s in a name? The religion of Abraham evolved seamlessly into Judaism.

  2. Vicharak says:

The first religion is neither judaism nor christian………its hinduism.

  3. Sdfsdfs Safasasd says:

    moses was a jew

Everyone says that? I never have. I figure there are older religions. Christians didn’t call themselves Christian, either, but they were. Romans called them that as an insult.

Anybody who says Judaism was the first religion is just plain wrong. Hinduism, animism and a huge number of pagan religions all pre-date Judaism. Heck, even the Hebrews had a polytheistic religion before they became Jews. Yahweh was just one of a pantheon of gods they worshipped.

  6. Web Head says:

Everybody doesn’t say Judaism is the first religion. Many religions are known to predate Judaism. In fact the Semitic people are known to have practiced polytheism prior to that time.
Ancient Egyptian religion is likely older as is Vedism.

Jesus was a Jew by birth but he contradicted everything that was in the Torah. If Yahweh dictated the Torah to Moses, then Moses and Jesus need to get their stories straight.

Your question doesn’t make sense. It’s founded on all kinds of incorrect things. It’s not true that “everybody” says Judaism is the first religion. And it doesn’t matter that Abraham never called himself a Jew. “Jew” is just one of the names for this group. Another name is “Hebrews”, which IS what Abraham called himself. “Jew” is just the name most commonly used in English in the present day.

First of all, Judaism is not considered to be the first religion: It IS the first monotheistic religion. According to Judaism, G-d taught Abraham the ways of Judaism. He practiced them and taught them to others. He passed them onto his son, Isaac, who passed them onto his son, Jacob, who passed them onto his twelve sons, and so on. Even though Judaism was not yet named, he is considered to be the founder of Judaism because he sought G-d and believed in ONE G-d when everyone else believed in MANY gods. Jesus was Jewish, yes, and he started a new religion. According to Judaism, if you’re mother is Jewish, you are always Jewish. Obviously, Jesus is not exactly a “good” Jew, but he was born and raised Jewish and practiced Judaism for years.

    What is your alternative? Islam?

No way. According to Islam, the descendants of Ismael thought so little of him and the words Allah gave him that no there is no historical evidence of his being alive…let alone a corrupted word from Allah.

In addition, Islam teaches that the descendants of Ismael also totally rejected the other prophets and the words the other prophets gave. Having totally rejected Allah, Abraham and the other 23 prophets for 2000 years, it is impossible for the descendants to do anything but claim they were the first to reject Allah and Abraham. This is what Islam can honestly claim.

***Jesus was a jew when he rejected judaism?***

There were 12 copies of the Quran that were burned by non-prophets. Given what the Quran said about non-prophets, how perfect would it be if those taking over the prophet’s position continued the corruption set for the previous 2,000 years. How can you know right copy was burn when Allah went from being the Creator of the Universe to someone who is so weak He can’t keep His own creation from corrupting His word and won’t speak until the Messiah comes. So there is absolutely no assurance the right Qurans were burn because Allah can’t give it…how perfect is that to set up a sham?

On the other hand, you have 500 Jewish witnesses that could testify about the resurrection of Jesus alive which the scripture say were available to verify the writer’s account. Likewise, the resurrection was done by God and the scriptures still allow God to speak and act…so you can ask God to testify if what He had written is true.

Third, on the day of Pentecost, in Jerusalem, 120 Jews were filled with the spirit of God fulfilling Joel 2 and Jer 31. As the word “Christian” hadn’t been invented, it is impossible to call this anything but a Jewish event.

You know, you can’t get more Jewish thanb Jews celebrating a Jewish holiday in Jerusalem being filled with the spirit of God and fulfilling Jewish scriptures.

How is it you could come to 2 wrong conclusions on one question?
